About the role
 
We are currently seeking a contract UX designer. This role leans more towards the UX rather than the UI side of things. The team already have graphic design and software development capability, but they are looking to really "validate" what they are building. 
 
The role will involve creating mockups, running these through a workshop, and validating the designs both with internal staff, and external customers. Experience running user testing sessions will be critical. 
 
Even though these are web and mobile apps in the financial/budgeting sector, accessibility and ease of use for these apps is top of mind. 
 
The contract would look to range from 3 - 6 months and could be flexible in terms of hours per week. 
 
 
What you will bring
 
You will be an experienced UI/UX designer that has ran user testing workshops before. You'll have a bit of intuition when it comes to accessibility and making apps easy to use, but above all you'll like validating all those initial thoughts with real users. 
 
You will need all/most/able-to-fake-it of :

• Experience creating design mockups and wireframes, especially clickable prototyping experience. 
• Experience running user testing workshops, including the initial setup and structure, as well as user interviews. 
• A story or two of an initial design concept that failed during user testing and changed your outlook on the design. 
• Experience across both web and mobile UI/UX

And all/some/none-but-be-willing-to-learn of :

• Experience with accessibility concepts such as color contrast, keyboard navigation, spacing etc. 
• Any previous experience designing or working in the disability sector. 

 
Additional Information
 
Rate negotiable ~$110 per hour. 
 
The role is only open to candidates with existing working rights within NZ.
