About the company
Our client is a professional services company working in a wide mix of industries. From global real estate groups, to wellness startups, to engineering firms, to sporting mobile apps, they really do it all.
They have a distributed team and operate in a relaxed but professional environment. With no central office, the role is largely remote, though preference will be given to candidates in Auckland.
If you've been looking for a place where you can grow your career in project delivery, learn on the job, and work across a fascinating client base, this is the one.
About the role
We are seeking a project coordinator / junior project manager to join the team.
This role will suit someone who has the confidence and maturity to step in front of clients, listen to their needs, and read between the lines to really understand the customer. All while keeping the wheels of delivery turning.
You won't need 10 years of experience, but instead we're looking for someone savvy, autonomous, and willing to get stuck in rather than waiting for the next instruction.
The role is extremely varied. Some days you'll be drafting up new statements of work, other days making sure the team are on track and removing blockers, or maybe spotting opportunities to upsell and expand client relationships.
This is not a classic PMO environment. Think of it more as filling in the gaps, ensuring that communication is always open, and helping projects run as smooth as possible.
What you will bring You could be a fresh graduate, looking to kickstart your career in project management and learn in a supportive but fast paced environment.
Or you could be project coordinator with a couple of years experience who is ready to take on more responsibility and grow into a stronger PM role with a tonne of ownership.
Regardless, you'll be someone who thrives in a relaxed but fast moving environment. Comfortable talking to clients, capable of reading the room in technical conversations, and keen to grow into a proper PM role.
You will need all/most/able-to-fake-it of :
- Good communication skills and confidence in talking infront of clients
- Initiative and able to spot what needs to be done before being asked
- The ability to think on your feet (Or the ability to quickly type your question into ChatGPT to pretend you had the answer all along)
- Basic Word/Excel/Powerpoint/PC skills
- A basic understanding of IT processes including software development methodologies such as scrum or agile would be advantageous
And all/some/none-but-be-willing-to-learn of :
- Experience in a project coordinator type role (Even if it's not IT)
- Any experience as an account manager or a role in which you had to nuture ongoing client relationships
- Any previous experience in an IT role but looking to make the switch to project delivery could also be beneficial
Communication is everything, so if you're background is not IT but you want to give it a try, let's chat!
Additional Information This is a rolling hourly contract role. If you've never worked a contract role before, we can help you set up taxes, insurance etc. So don't let that be the reason you don't apply!
The role is only open to candidates with existing working rights within NZ.
